'The sea completes me, it grounds me and awakens my soul,
it's the one thing I couldn't live without...'
At Zennor Glass we are constantly inspired by all the amazing people around us doing the things that they love. We wanted to share their stories in the hope of inspiring you too, so we decided to launch 'Under the Same Sun'- a platform to bring us all together through shared dreams and our love for adventure, the ocean and the sun.
This month we were lucky enough to chat with the wonderful Corinne Evans. A big name in the UK surf scene; Corinne is a surfer, writer, model and Wave Project Coordinator to name a just few.
Free spirited and fun-loving, Corinne epitomises self acceptance and pursuing your dreams and we can't wait to share her story with you..

What are you up to at the moment? What does a typical day look like for you?
My days vary from week to week but I always work Monday - Friday, either at The Wave Project as their Events Coordinator or at SurfGirl as their Assistant Editor. In the summer I try and surf before and after work but in the winter it get's a little harder, so it's off to the gym I go in the evenings. I generally try and fill my day with lots of work, surfing and smiles!
In 2010 you set up Corinne's Surf Tour which has been a great success, what was the inspiration behind it and do you think it's important to get more women into surfing?
I basically wanted to give back. I wanted to help more women and girls get into surfing and show them how wonderful this sport and lifestyle is. When I first started out I longed for a club or group of girls and women to surf with but it didn't exist. As I got older and made the decision to try and whole professional free surfer thing I felt it would be nice to use my profile and platform to hopefully inspire other women to give surfing a go.
What has surfing taught you about yourself? And what advice do you have for anyone wanting to pick up a board for the first time?
Surfing has taught me to appreciate the world. When you're in the ocean you are surrounded by raw, natural beauty and it is extremely humbling. It has made me feel every possible emotion but most of all it has made me feel alive. So to anyone who is considering picking up a board, I would say do it. Don't let fear hold you back, surfing truly is a wonderful thing, that everyone should experience.
Where is your favourite beach (if you can pick just one) and why?
I would have to say Fistral Beach. I have such fond memories of this beach and the waves in general. I have surfed those waves with my family and although I may not not always have my best surfs there, it is the place I feel most at home.

How do you overcome your fears? (Anything from paddling out in big waves to launching your surf tour)
Fear is something I struggle with and it is actually something I have accepted. I have learned to listen to my body and only push myself gradually. There have been a couple of times I have given in to peer pressure and surfed waves I am not comfortable in. These times ended up with me actually being even more scared then I was to begin with, which just doesn't make sense to me. I would rather have fun and challenge myself gradually and not force it.
We've got to ask.. what's the secret behind your gorgeous mermaid hair?
In all honesty I actually don't do a lot to my hair. It is naturally curly and only requires hair oil. I have also recently stopped brushing it and only comb it in the shower haha!
It may sound a little feral but it's what suits my hair. For years I used to straighten it and blow dry my curls out but now I have embrace the waves and just let it do it's thing!
What does living a happy and healthy life look like to you?
Accepting who you are, how you look and knowing what you like and don't like. Learning to love yourself and also be yourself is so important and I honestly think this only really comes with age. I believe in moderation; treating yourself to that glass of wine or chocolate, then balancing it out with keeping active.
Do you think it's important to spend time getting active outside? In what ways do you like to do this?
100% I think it is extremely important, I feel we connect better outside. Connecting to ourselves and those around us. I am big fan of a walk. My husband always jokes that it's the only thing I ever want to do. I love nothing more than to go for a beach walk, cliff top walk or into the forest. Nothing beats being out in the fresh air.

What does the next year have in store for you?
More Corinne's Surf Tour events, a launch of a new range of events and hopefully lots of other wonderful adventures. I also turn 30! Which I can't quite believe, but I am SO excited about the next chapter.
Can you describe in one sentence how being in the sea makes you feel?
The sea completes me, it grounds me and awakens my soul, it's the one thing I couldn't live without.
